I wish to Congratulate all the 2021 event Champions. Job well done.

I would like to say Hello to each one of the CSPRA members and supporters. We have succeeded to complete another successful year where many obstacles and challenges were present... Due to the effort and care taken by each of you, we were able to continue with our rodeos and our Finals. I would like to thank each and everyone personally for the consideration and respect showed to each other to make this another covid free rodeo season.

I would like to thank each rodeo committee for their efforts and challenges required to host the rodeos. We enjoyed some new rodeos and our established events. Each rodeo and committee offered different functions for the members to partake in and enjoy.  Lots of laughs and enjoyment made for a great year. Without these committees we would not have our rodeos and interaction... We all need to express our appreciation to each committee and have the respect for them that they deserve.

I would like to thank the outgoing directors for their contributions and welcome the incoming directors. I would like to express my gratitude to the board of directors for the ability they showed in handling their events and the challenges they faced during the year, each one had an ear open and a watchful eye peeled for any covid updates or changes so we could respond as quickly as possible. I would like to thank Mike Tucker for his patients during the hours of conversations him and I had trying to keep abreast and ahead of covid protocols and other issues we had to deal with. I would like to thank Carol Crawford for looking after the barrel timer, flags and banners for each rodeo...  also, thanks to Trina Banks for stepping in and handling the finals coordinator task in an uncertain year... A BIG Thank you is extended to Marilyn Callaway for her volunteer time spent assisting the association on committees, sponsorship recruiting and for the wonderful selection of awards that were presented to our year end winners and our champions.

I owe a huge thank you to Bev Ganske for accepting the secretary position and the work done and ideas she has presented to the board to help our organization. everything she has done has been handled in a professional manner... THANK YOU Bev... much appreciated.

I am looking forward the 2022 season and being able to visit with each and everyone of our members and hopefully many new members. Remember we are only as strong as our membership so encourage friends and neighbors to join a great family....   Thank you for the Great Year.

   Neil Howard...

Cowboy of the Year

When you read this and think of someone who’s ability, appearance, sportsmanship and overall contribution to the sport of rodeo, you have someone come to mind. With this in your thoughts we want to stress the importance of recognizing those in our association that exemplify the western lifestyle we all love. Please let Bob Hood (sbhood@live.com) know your nomination so we can all show our appreciation.

Congratulations……

Sandy Creasy, the newest winner of our online 50/50 raffle. She is the lucky recipient of $ 2000.00

------------------------------------------------

Canadian Senior Pro Rodeo Association is excited to announce our  50/50 running July 1-
July 31/2021. The lucky winner will receive a minimum cash prize of $2000 or 50% of ticket sales (whichever is greater). Help us sell out the raffle and the winner will mosey away with $5000 cash jingle in their jeans!

Founded in 1985, the CSPRA was created to provide opportunities to rodeo competitors aged 40 and up. Today the CSPRA is comprised of all levels of competitive skills from beginner to professional, and our membership ranging in ages 40 to 80+!!  The common ground lies in the appreciation of western values and lifestyles, passion for rodeo, and desire to pursue this active western sport.
The CSPRA season is set to start in May with the potential for about 25 rodeos scattered across Alberta. We wrap up in October with an exciting three-day, four performance sudden-death Finals held in Claresholm, AB. When the dust settles, champions are crowned in four age divisions in events such as Barrel Racing; Breakaway, Tie Down, Ribbon, and Team Roping; Steer Wrestling; and even Rough Stock events.
Due to the uncertain times we have scaled back significantly in order to make the production of the rodeos more cost effective for rodeo committees willing to host a CSPRA weekend. Our finals will run lean as well, but still comes at a high price to the association.  The proceeds of this raffle will help to recover costs to the association and enable our membership to continue to “Rodeo Forever”.
The Canadian Senior Pro Rodeo Association sincerely appreciates your support.

We are happy to announce we are having a minimum
$10 000.00
guaranteed added to the CSPRA finals.

And the Winner is…….

CONGRATULATIONS TO BILL REEDER WHO HAS A GREAT  START TO HIS RODEO YEAR. He will walk away with an extra $2000.00 in his jeans.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTED OUR FIRST ONLINE RAFFLE.

WE are excited to announce we have received a grant from the stabilize program from the government of alberta, department of culture, multiculturalism, and status of women. We received $47024.00 and will be able to use these funds for the payment of salaries as well as other operational and programing expenses from our finals.  We are grateful to the department of culture, multiculturism, and the status of women for providing us the means to continue with our sport of rodeo.

CSPRA GOLD CARDS

Hey members, as you turn 75 years of age or are already 75+,
and have 10 years or more of membership with the CSPRA, you can

now apply for a paid-in-full "Lifetime Membership Gold Card"!

--------------------------------

Good Day... so results from the barrel racing poll showed that many of you don’t care how the barrels are run off, but a majority did like the idea of everyone running in one section.  So as a Board we decided we would just leave it in the age groups as is. BUT... raking will be decided each rodeo day, based on conditions, AND... will be done after actual runs on ground NOT names in the program. Draw is always up at the office and medical and turnouts are there to see when you run.  ALSO... we will always run 40s, 50s, 60s, 68+s, without confusion when anyone runs we just leave so committee and spectators can follow programs.

Thanks, just keeping everyone updated and “in the loop”.  Remember to always check the CSPRA website at www.canadaseniorrodeo.com for official information on the Association. ie: rodeo details, rules, etc.

Canadian Senior Pro Rodeo Association  --  Rodeo Forever!

The Canadian rodeo season starts in April with rodeos scattered across Western Canada throughout the spring, summer and fall. The Canadian Finals are a sudden death finals held in October at the Claresholm Agriplex, Claresholm, Alberta.

Contestants compete in such events as Barrel Racing, Steer Wrestling, Tie Down Roping, Men's and Ladies Breakaway, Saddle Bronc Riding, Bareback Riding, Bull Riding, Team Roping and Ribbon Roping. Included in the opportunity to enjoy Senior Pro Rodeo is the choice to head south of the border to rodeos hosted by the National Senior Pro Rodeo Association.

The CSPRA now offers the options of hosting a "full" CSPRA rodeo, a "timed event only" rodeo or a "roughstock only" rodeo. A timed event only rodeo will consist of tie down roping, breakaway roping, ladies barrel racing, ribbon roping, team roping and steer wrestling. All rodeos have to follow the CSPRA rule book to be sanctioned. Please contact the committee representative or your event director with any questions. Be advised that the NSPRA has moved to a “region” format since the 2014 season and included in the Canadian region will be ALL CSPRA rodeos as well as those rodeos occurring in Montana.

* We are now set up for e-transfer!
(thru: info@canadaseniorrodeo.com)
* Also the CSPRA accepts credit cards
(Visa or Mastercard, $10 service charge)

* Ideas, questions, concerns, or any other general information
